There is something about living in the country. The air, the soil, the space, the people, the freedom. I love living on the Northern Beaches, but I grew up all across country NSW, and part of it has remained with me. In the way I raise my children, taking country holidays, running my business to benefit Australians and dreaming of return to the country with my husband. I even have my daily helper Millie, my border collie sitting on my bed behind me – who is definitely ready for the country.

Have you seen sheep on the hills? It was quite a thrill to drive a few minutes from home and be surrounded by farms and clouds, even if not all the roads were paved.

I just wish I had known more about yoga while I was there! But there’s no reason for regrets, maybe you found your passions a little later as well. I can imagine designing a space to do yoga in front of a window or on the deck, the countryside stretching out into the horizon, bolsters and cushions, cashmere blankets, kids that are only home sometimes…

It has been such a thrill being able to reconnect with this part of myself more often lately while working on our new line of woollen creations. I usually only get to experience the country on our retreats, or visiting our country cousins, but now I’m handling gorgeous, fresh Australian wool all day.

Our wool is sourced from Australian farms to support Aussie farmers, who produce some of the world’s finest wool. It is a natural and biodegradable fibre grown year-round. Sheep enjoy a simple blend of natural ingredients including sunshine, water, fresh air and grass. Every year these sheep produce a new fleece, making wool a wonderful, sustainable and eco-conscious fibre.

If you or your little ones have sensitive skin, you will appreciate that wool is naturally dust mite resistant, antimicrobial and antibacterial. Most importantly wool is BREATHABLE – allowing body heat to escape into the bolster while retaining its shape and firmness.

We know you’ll love our new adventure into wool. Mandala Living design and craftsmanship has rediscovered and incorporated the timeless superiority of Australian wool, the ideal support for your practice. Check out four new kinds of woollen bolster and even a mega rectangle floor cushion. I can almost picture sitting comfortably on the back deck, relaxing all summer, finding time to retreat at home.

These beautiful images were taken by fellow yoga teacher and photographer Tara D’ Cruz Noble. Thank you for capturing the beauty of wool.

Hope you love our Australian wool bolsters too!

Love Tara (and Millie – my little helper)
